She was predeceased by: her parents, Olta Brown and Sophie Harmon Brown; and her former husband Norman Hook. She is survived by: her husband Cole Sample of Southside; her children, Edward L. McClusky (Yvonne) of Pine Bluff and Patricia Waters (Lloyd) of Thida; and her brother Nolan R. Brown (Connie) of Searcy. She is also survived by four grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren.
