He was predeceased by: his parents, Herbert Sampson Brown Smith and Mary Ola Smith (Summerford); and his sisters, Marjorie Ernestine, Ruth Mae and Bettie Lou.
He is survived by: his wife Ella Jane of Newark, Arkansas; his brother Herbert Brown "Bud" Smith Junior of Madera, California; and his stepchildren, Donna Smith (Donald "Tink") of Magness, Don Austin (Wanda) of Siloam Springs, Laura Anderson of Newark, Terry Gipson (Meshell) of Newark and Trent Gipson (Tonya) of Newark. He is also survived by great-grandchildren.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in his memory to the Independence County Humane Society #5 Environmental Drive.
