He was predeceased by: his parents, James L. Kilts and Fern Hansen Kilts; his sister Barbara Fedell; his brother-in-law Gary Fedell; his brother Robert "Bob" Kilts; his sister-in-law Carolyn Kilts; his father-in-law Monroe Johnston; and his granddaughter Oakley Kilts.

He is survived by: his wife Loretta Johnston Kilts; his children, Christopher (Carolyn Kilts) of Cassville, Missouri, Tamara Gray of Hot Springs, Jennifer Drake (Nathan Hooper) of Bolivar, Stephanie McClure of Arkadelphia and Tiffanie (Rusty Rutherford) of Okolona, Arkansas; his grandchildren, Pierce (Liana Lowery), Emily Drake (Jerry McBride), Clair Parsons, Kaylee Erlandson, Alexis Rogers, James, Sophia McClure, Aubrey, Paisley Kilts and R. J. Rutherford; his sister Judy Conners of Rochelle; and his mother-in-law Elvena Johnston of Bolivar, Missouri..
