He was predeceased by: his parents, Rufe Smithson and Lillie Loyd Smithson; his sister Betty Smithson Evans; his brother-in-law Robert Evans; his sister June Smithson Payne; and his brother-in-law H. J. Payne.
He is survived by: his wife Julia Glover Smithson of Arkadelphia; his daughter Terri Smithson King (Taylor) of Arkadelphia; his grandchildren, Austin King (Jillian) of Arkadelphia and Maggie Davis (Kyle) of Little Rock; his great grandchildren, Taylor Woods King of Arkadelphia and Benjamin Andrew King of Arkadelphia; and his sister-in-law Sandra Rowe (Danny) of Hot Springs.
