He was predeceased by: his parents, Ulus Carter and Alta Carter (Crossland); and his siblings, Jeweldean Porta, Lorena Henry, Nell Wolfe, Arnold Carter and Nelson Rozell.
He is survived by: his wife Lola Carter (Barker); his daughters, Kimberly Deal of Alma, Elaine Sawyers of Clearwater, FL and Karen Stevens (Roger) of Van Buren; his grandchildren, Candice Grosse, Christopher Carter, Cassondra Stevens and Shelby Sawyers; and his sister Loretta Bryan. He is also survived by seven great-grandchildren.
