He was predeceased by: his grandparents, Rosa and John William Dunaway; his mother Catherine Roberson; and his stepfather Jim Langston. He is survived by: his wife Sybil Kirkpatrick; his sons, Michael Kirkpatrick, Johnny Kirkpatrick Jr. and Steven Kirkpatrick (Dawn); and his grandchildren, Bryson Kirkpatrick, Emma Kirkpatrick, Ella Kate Kirkpatrick and Clay Kirkpatrick.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Mt. Moriah Cemetery Fund.
