He was predeceased by: his wife Mary Lois Douglas Tyler; and his parents, Thomas Joe Tyler and Lula I. Martin Tyler. He is survived by: his children, Connie Tyler Mitchell (Gary) of Sylacauga and Mark D. Tyler (Carol) of Senoia, Georgia; his grandchildren, Jessica Tyler, Tyler Mitchell, Trey Mitchell and Natalie Moseley; his great grandchild MacKenzie Moseley; and his sister-in-law Melba Douglas Woods (Frank) of Summerville, SC. He is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.
