He was predeceased by: his parents, John A. Nelson, Sr. and Lorraine Nelson; his son Dean Nelson; his grandson Taylor Nelson; and his sister Carol Tice.
He is survived by: his wife Carolyn E. Nelson; his children, Ronnie Nelson (Melissa), Erik Nelson (Jennifer), Joel Toifel (Sallie), Kelli Liles and Deanna Toifel; his grandchildren, Stefanie Nelson (Gary), Robyn Nelson, Cody Toifel, Courtney Toifel, Kennedy Liles, Joshua Nelson and Katlynn Toifel; and his great grandchildren, Samuel Nelson, Lucy Nelson and John Luke Nelson.
