He was predeceased by: his parents, Henry Batey and Fannie Batey; his wife Dorothy "Dot" Benson Batey; his daughters, Kathy Batey Steele and Linda Batey McCain; his sons-in-law, Levi Womack and Wayne McCain; and his siblings, Talmedge Batey, Vester Batey Steele, Eula Batey, James Batey, Aubrey H. "Dude" Batey, Naomi Batey Bunch and Ed Batey.
He is survived by: his brother Leonard Batey; his children, Jean Batey Womack, William, Buddy and Bobby E. Batey (Anita); and his pet Coco. He is also survived by 12 grandchildren; 21 great grandchildren; several great-great grandchildren; several nieces, nephews, and cousins.
