He was predeceased by: his father Lynn Whitsett; and his brother Jimmy Whitsett. He is survived by: his wife Ruth Greer Whitsett; his daughters, Miranda Davis (Kyle) and Melanie Pope (Josh); his grandchildren, Katelyn Pope, Zac Pope, Evelyn Davis and Stella Davis; his mother Marjorie Whitsett; and his siblings, Steve Whitsett, Angie Harville (Doug) and Becky Gibson (John). He is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.
