He was predeceased by: his parents, Millard Wood and Arminda Wood; and his siblings, John Wood, Carlton Wood, Alton Wood, Mae Denson and Folmer Lay.

He is survived by: his wife Melba Lee Aaron Wood of Cullman, Ala; his children, Franklin D. Wood, Jr., Rebecca Ann Baxter (Richard) of Cullman, Ala and Veronica Lynn Wood of Cullman, Ala; his grandchildren, Zhon Patrick Wood (Ashley) of Panama City, Jessica Lee Coggins of Cullman, Ala, Sarah Baxter of Cullman, Ala and Annabella Wood of Panama City, Florida; and his sisters, Betty Jean Williams of Jasper, Ala, Charlene Stewart of Jasper, Ala and Lorraine Burson of Pell City, Ala. He is also survived by six great grandchildren.
