He was loved and cherished by many people including: his parents, Odis Dansby and Mildred Anderson Dansby; his son Jeffery Dansby; his parents-in-law, J. C. and Mary Long; his brother-in-law Joe Lee; his wife Lynette Long Barker Dansby; his children, Jennifer Lynn Dansby and Chanin Barker (Mandy); his siblings, Johnny Dansby (Beth), Ray Dansby, Larry Dansby (Dianne), Mary Lee, Diner Trousdale (Rhett), Linda Holland (Freddy) and Glenda Merritt; and his granddaughters, McKenzie Grace Barker and Audumn Kristeen Dansby. He was also cherished by several nieces and nephews.
