She was predeceased by: her father Edwin Hancock; her husband Dr. F. M. Powell; her mother Viola Thornton; and also Edwin Hancock. She is survived by: her sons, James A Elkins, Jr. (Nan) and Matthew Elkins; and her granddaughters, Holly Elkins and Natalie Elkins.
A celebration of life will be held on Friday, February 28th 2025 at 11:00 AM at the Jeffcoat-Trant Funeral Home (1500 Frederick Rd, Opelika, AL 36801).
