He was predeceased by: his parents, Arthur Sims and Anna Vaughn Sims; his siblings, Coy Sims, William Sims, Clarence Sims, Evelyn Beshears and Dorothy Stephenson; and his son-in-law Tony Jones.
He is survived by: his wife Jane Hill Sims; his children, James Ray "Jim" Sims, Jr., Mark Sims, Donna Pabalate and Anna Sims Jones; and his sisters, Laura Blair and MaeBelle Ferguson. He is also survived by eleven grandchildren; seven great grandchildren.
