He was predeceased by: his parents, Bryce Newton and Katherine Miller Newton; and his siblings, Bobbie Gladden, Doris Walkman and Max Newton.

He is survived by: his wife Carolyn Hawkins Newton; and his brothers, Gerald Newton, Willie J. Newton and Larry Newton (Donna). He is also survived by nieces and nephews.
