“Steve is a Great American hero! He was tall, quiet, and always on the job. On the 15th of Sept 2001, 4 days after 9-11, our mission in the desert changed. When our Nation called, Steve delivered. He singlehandedly built a base to forward deploy A-10s to Bagrum Afghanistan from Kuwait. He changed the course of history. Steve Clay made it all possible. He is one of the Greatest Americans I have ever had the honor of knowing! He will forever be a Great American Hero! Dave "Face" Nichols”
