She was predeceased by: her parents, Thomas Casey and Nellie Rountree of Dozier; her husband McHeartland Sasser, Sr.; her brothers, J. W. Rountree (Elizabeth) of Red Level, AL and Billy Rountree (Ann) of Lynn Haven, FL; and her brother-in-law Bence Carter of Enterprise, AL..

She is survived by: her son McHeartland "Lanny" Sasser, Jr. (Leigh) of Pike Road, AL; her grandchildren, Emily, Sam, Skylar and Cade; her sister Lanelle Carter of Enterprise, AL; and her siblings-in-law, Sybil Merlene Hughes of Gantt, AL and Donnie Ray Sasser (Brenda) of Brookhaven, MS. She is also survived by many nieces and nephews.

In lieu of flowers, contributions in Martha Jo's memory may be made to Eastern Hills Baptist Church.
