He was predeceased by: his parents, Donald Pate and Agnes Pate; his siblings, Donald Gary Pate and Betty Jane Key; his son Phillip Wayne Pate Jr.; and his grandchildren, Andrew Wayne Johnson and Tiffinee Jayne Holladay Wallace.

He is survived by: his wife Louise Pate; his brother Kenneth Pate; his daughters, Tracey Holladay (Luther) and Jennifer Pate; and his grandson Kyle Pate. He is also survived by extended family and friends.
