It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Virginia Joan Ference of Madison, Alabama, who passed away on August 31, 2023, at the age of 89, leaving to mourn family and friends. She was predeceased by: her parents, George Dedik Sr. and Elizabeth Dedik (Miller); her husband Edward W. Ference Sr.; and her siblings, Stephen, George Jr., Walter Dedik, Teresa Blucas, Agnes Dedik and Verna Sendek.
She is survived by: her children, Edward W. "Bill" Ference Jr. (Sue) of Huntsville, AL, John A. Ference of Madison, AL and Dr. Mary Jean Valenta (Erik) of Holly Springs, NC; her brother Robert Dedik; her grandchildren, Dr. Edward W. "Tripp" Ference III (Alex) of Huntsville, AL, Alexandra Shi (Rick) of San Jose, CA, Joe Valenta of Holly Springs, NC and Jake Valenta of Holly Springs, NC; her great grandchildren, Remi Shi and Liam Ference; and her caregiver Candy.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that memorial contributions be made to St. Vincent Basilica, 300 Fraser Purchase Road, Latrobe, PA 15650.
