He was predeceased by: his parents, James Medley and Nettie Medley; and his brothers, James A. Medley and Billy Ray Atchley. He is survived by: his wife Gail Newman Medley; his children, David Medley (Beth), Scott Medley and Deirdre Futral; his grandchildren, Kayla Rike (Jon), Jonathan Futral, Sarah Beth Medley and Cade Medley (Anna); and his great grandchild Davis Medley.
