She was predeceased by: her parents, Mangrum Benjamin Solomon and Francis Boutwell Solomon of Montgomery; her spouse Mira Sparks Hixon Jr. of Montgomery; and her siblings, Charles Wesley Solomon and Katherine Frances Byrd.

She is survived by: her siblings, Bennie Jean Patrick of Prattville, AL and Melvin Byron Solomon (Carolyn) of Deatsville, AL; and her sons, Mira Sparks Hixon, III (Jo Ann), Mangrum Randall Hixon of Birmingham, AL and Thomas Byron Hixon (Kathy) of Montgomery, AL. She is also survived by one granddaughter, three grandsons; three great grandchildren, and many adored nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews.

In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to one's favorite charity.

“I am so sorry for your loss. Ms. Claire was crossing my mind again. She was the kindest, sweetest, most loving person, I've met. She took care of my son and daughter at Childwood in Montgomery. When it closed, she took care of them at a home. She took care of the kids even when they had chicken pox...all the kids got them. We knew that they were loved. I moved out of Montgomery, but would come back, and ran into her a few years ago. Just so overwhelming the love we have for her and memories.”
