She was predeceased by: her parents, Emmett Gates and Wanda Powell; and her brother Larry Powell. She is survived by: her husband Gerald H. Kempel of Lillian; her daughters, Sherry A. White (Ali) of Pensacola and Shlynn Curry (Bob) of Hazel Green, AL; her stepdaughters, Angie Moltsau (Al) of Leesville, LA, Victoria Amacher of Huntsville, AL and Heather Hemming (Josh) of Poway, CA; her siblings, Jerry Rayford Gates of Jackson, AL, Bob Powell of Grove Hill, AL and Laura Few of Saraland; and her grandchildren, Libby, Mackenzie, Phillip, Ryan and Jeremy. She is also survived by eight great grandchildren and other loving relatives and friends.
