He was predeceased by: his parents, Gardis Newton and Effie Newton. He is survived by: his daughter Anna Blake Thornton (Adrienne); his grandson Greyson Thornton; his siblings, Gail Newton, Betty Hall (Joe), Ann Walden (Perry) and Larry Newton (Yvonne); his niece Melissa Murks (Phillip); and his friend Joey Joiner (Vanessa). He is also survived by nieces and nephews.
