He was predeceased by: his parents, Harley Mathis Cater and Sillar Bea Sanders Cater; his wife Alice Franklin Cater; his daughter Shela Cater Lynch; and his sisters, Florence Durham and Alice Moreno.
He is survived by: his sister Faye Winters (Chuck); his sister-in-law Ruth Sanders; his nieces, Penny Kennedy and Ellen King (Ronnie); his nephew Charles Edward Cater; his grandchildren, Jason Lynch, Jeremy Lynch (Kimberly), Chuck King (Kelsey), Emily Cope (Matt), Matthew Kennedy and Sarah Cox Jr. (Ricky); and his great grandchildren, Kylie, Jaxon Lynch, Little Matt, Little Ronnie Cope, Kohl (Poe), Hinata King, Westin and Austin Cox. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews that he loved as his own children and a host of loving family members and friends.
