He was predeceased by: his parents, George McGuinness and Isabella Thomson McGuinness; and his brother John. He is survived by: his wife Margaret McLean; his daughter Margaret Hale (Chris); his grandchildren, Matthew Hale (Courtney), Elizabeth Hale and Ryan Hale; and his great grandchildren, Sutton and Madelyn Hale.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the building fund of Providence Baptist Church, 1355 Douglass Road NW, Huntsville, AL 35806.
