He was predeceased by: his parents, Martin Smirl Freeman and Lillie Belle Simpson Freeman; his siblings, Verbon Freeman (Lorene), Lowell Freeman (Fannie), Lamar Freeman (Mary Ann) and June Freeman Franklin (Jack); his nephews, Brent Freeman and Bruce Freeman; and his great-nephew Michael Freeman.
He is survived by: his wife Linda Smith Freeman; his son Tony Wayne Elrod (Marilyn); his grandchildren, Mark Elrod and Amanda Elrod; and his sister Betty Gail Freeman Ellison (Robert). He is also survived by 5 great-grandchildren and 10 great-great grandchildren.
