She was predeceased by: her fiancé James Sheldon "Shelbo"; and her parents, Ellis Foster Jones and Madeline Lynnheart Jones. She is survived by: her children, Christy Sajpel (Matt) of Helena, AL, Tammy Black (Harry) of Brookwood, AL, Crystal Smith (Anthony) of Duncanville, AL, Mike Sims (Trudie) of Tuscaloosa, AL, Will Sims (Tammy) of Ethelsville, AL, Eric Sims of Lubbock, TX and Jason Sims (Jamie) of Tuscaloosa, AL; her sister Marie McCormick of Rock Cliff, OH; and her sons, John Abrams, Jeremy Abrams, Caleb Sims and Bannon Black. She is also survived by thirteen grandchildren and seventeen great-grandchildren.
In lieu of flowers the family suggests memorials to the VA Hospital in Tuscaloosa, 3701 Loop Road, Tuscaloosa, AL 35404-5099.
