He was predeceased by: his brother Tracy Scott Mathews. He is survived by: his wife Edna Mathews of Elberta, AL; his children, Racheal Mathews (Joseph Nolan) of Gulf Shores, AL, Scott Mathews (Jennifer) of Atmore, AL, Edward Craig Mathews (Megan) of Stapleton, AL and Elvin P. J. Mathews (Rachel) of Robertsdale, AL; his stepchild Robbie Clapper (Tami) of Lillian, AL; his siblings, Richard Mathews (Donna), Linda Tobey (Roy), Anita Beedle (John), Bunny Stude (Bill) and Elvin Mathews (Susan); his stepmother Barbara Mathews; and his granddaughter Glenda Fay Mathews. He is also survived by eight step grandchildren; thirteen step great grandchildren; numerous nieces, nephews and other relatives.
