He was predeceased by: his parents, Rev. Archie L. Barnes of Elba, Alabama. and Versie Belcher Barnes (Julie) of Elba, Alabama.; his wife Christine Barnes; his son Teddy Barnes; and his siblings, Zerrall Barnes (Ike), Joseph Barnes, Nathaniel Barnes, Sarah A. Barnes Magwood and Jeanette Siler.
He is survived by: his children, Terry W. Barnes, Frederick Barnes of Elba, AL, Perry Barnes of Jacksonville, FL, Florence A. Barnes of Montgomery, AL and Melanie A. Barnes of Clarksville, TN; his siblings, Murray Barnes (Phyllis) of Elba, AL and Zenear Barnes of Hemstead, NY; his siblings-in-law, William "Bill" Knox and Edna Gains of Gary, IN; his grandchildren, Demaris L. Barnes, Sheldon D. Green, Shannon Phillips, Tranessa Caldwell, Christina Nicholson (Tony), Tiffney Green Waters (Shug), Christopher Green and Nicholas C. Green; and his great grandchildren, Reedie Russell and Liz Boyd. He is also survived by nieces, nephews, and a host of relatives and friends.
