He was predeceased by: his parents, Charles Albert and Roxie Ella Petty; his siblings, Alma Irene Migrant, Walter Wayne Petty, Emma Lee Hughes, Jonnie May Duncan, Albert Earl Petty, Charles Edward Petty, John Davis "Jake" Petty and Horace Petty; and his nephew Chuck Petty.
He is survived by: his wife Mildred Petty; his daughters, Donna Ray Barich (Bobby), Jackie Marie Phillips (Richard), Loretta Denise Carr (Marvin) and Leslie Annette Walton (Malcolm); his grandchildren, Lisa Dianne Barich Reynolds, Kelli Lynn Barich Martinez, Joshua Wayne Ray, Angela Marie Ray Portl, Brandon Paul Ray, Nathaniel Lester Ray, Neva Denise Petty and Corey Owen Fox; and his nieces and nephews, A. J. Petty, Larry Petty, Linda Watson and Earline Evans. He is also survived by 22 great grandchildren; 8 great-great grandchildren.
