He was predeceased by: his parents, Eugene Dean and Rama Dean (Denna); his son John Jeffery Dean; his sister Patty Lou Kerns; and his pet Bella.

He is survived by: his wife Barbara Sutton Dean; his daughters, Jennifer Barnard (Jeff) of Atlanta, Georgia and Janet McGowin (Steve) of Hoover Alabama; and his grandchildren, Aaron Barnard, Ian Barnard (Hayley), William Barnard, Elena and Ilissa McGowin. He is also survived by two great grandchildren, four nephews, and dear lifelong friends.
