He was predeceased by: his parents, Jim Patterson and Emma Jane Patterson; and his siblings, J. D., John L., Jethro, Jim L and Ozell Patterson.
He is survived by: his close friend Katherine J. McLendon; his siblings, Janie Smith of Charlotte, NC, Jean Collier of Enterprise, Josephine Beacham of Ozark, Alabama and Danny Patterson (Alleen) of Charlotte, NC; his cousins, Lamar Gibson and Alice Jackson; and also, Tamika McLendon (Kelvin), Wandra Williams (Eric), Naomi McLendon (Desmond) and Ashley Thomas (Derrick). He is also survived by fourteen grandchildren; three great grandchildren.
