He is survived by: his wife Martha Ann; his children, Laura Hubbard (Dorian) of Vestavia Hills and Seth Rayburn Underwood (Brittney) of Hoover, AL; his grandchildren, Greyson Hubbard, Zachary Hubbard, Caden Underwood and Anna Kate Underwood; his brother George Underwood (Reida); his niece Melissa Hodges (Jeff); and his nephew Hank Underwood.

In lieu of flowers the family asked that donations be made to The Big Oak Ranch in John's name.
