He was predeceased by: his parents, James Floyd and Marie Smith; his grandson Josh Smith; and his brother-in-law Butch Gassner. He is survived by: his wife Rebecca M. "Becky" Smith; his children, Eric Smith (Ashley), Chad Smith (Kelsey) and Hollie Quinn (Austin); his grandchildren, Colby Smith, Kimberly Owen, Mary Brooke Smith and Shelbie Smith; and his sisters, Kathey Gassner and Sandra Musgrove.
