He was predeceased by: his parents, Marshall Kelso "Jack" Shoemaker and Lonnie Mae Jacobs Shoemaker; his wife Nancy Shoemaker; and his siblings, J. K. Shoemaker and Marsha Mae Roush.
He is survived by: his children, John Rio (Flor) of Warsaw, IN, Kathi Panozzo (Jay) of Cummings, GA, Polly Thompson of Mobile, AL, Gail Seals (Chris) of Huntsville, AL, Linda Sing (Jeff) of Lockport, IL, Anne Brooks (Bob) of Joliet, IL, Grace Reis (Steve) of Michigan and Robin Bracknell (Stephen) of Livingston, AL; and his siblings, Singleton Shoemaker, Jr. (Kathryn) of Butler, AL and Janice Dees of Tennessee. He is also survived by 20 grandchildren; 14 great grandchildren and one on the way; numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and many other family and friends.
