It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Sterling Fields Sr. of Birmingham, Alabama, born in New Orleans, Louisiana, who passed away on April 25, 2022, at the age of 81, leaving to mourn family and friends. He was predeceased by: his brothers, Andrew Fields, Sr., Sidney Fields, James Lee Fields (Gabby) and Emanuel Jones; his wife Margaret Fields; his children, Sterling Demetris Hutchinson and Sonja Echols; his niece Saketha; his grandchildren, Ashley Fields and Marcus Fields; and his son-in-law Joe Patterson.

He is survived by: his children, Zora Harris (Andrew), Anita Fields (Edgar), Pamela Olver, Kathy Patterson and Marion Oliver; his grandchildren, Aaron Fields, LaDre Fields, Angel Jackson, Jessika Fields, Erika Howard, Karmen Fields, LaDarius Bender, Tavarius Hutchinson, Aleecia, Tamesha Wilkinson, Martavious Hutchinson, Sterling Hutchinson, Jr., Lydia Avant, LaShunda Smith (Cornelius), Michael Oliver, Garrett Morton, Kevin Buchanan and Keith Buchanan; his sisters-in-law, Pearlie Fields and Chrystal Jones; and his nieces and nephews, Andrew Fields, Jr., Robert Patterson, Cledna Fields Lewis, Pearlie Fields Williams, Natasha Jones and Angela Blanding. He is also survived by great-grandchildren, cousins, and other relatives and friends.
