He was predeceased by: his parents, Sanford Guthrie and Madge Waldrop Guthrie; and his grandparents, Sanford, Ella Guthrie, William and Neelie Waldrop.

He is survived by: his wife Martha Stapler Guthrie; his sons, Randy Guthrie (Margaret) and Benny Guthrie (Becky); and his sister Iris Phillips (Wayne). He is also survived by 6 grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren, a host of nephews, nieces and many friends.
