He was predeceased by: his parents, Jessie Lou and S. C. Thomas; his siblings, Laura M. Fleming, Lurlene Lodar, J. B. Thomas, Cozell Thomas and Darryl Thomas; his close friend Ruth Burney; and his son Floyd Phillips.
He is survived by: his son Oscar Stripling; his siblings, Julia M. McLain of Daviston, AL, Sandra Anderson of Daviston, AL, Lesa Anderson of Daviston, AL, Pauline Carter (Henry) of Lineville, AL, Annie R. Garrett (James) of Lineville, AL, Walter J. Thomas (Louise), Clarence Thomas (Melissa), Reginald Thomas (Margaret) and Merill Thomas; and his children, Minnie Caldwell and Luther Phillips. He is also survived by nieces, nephews, cousins and other friends.
