He was loved and cherished by many people including: his parents, James Clyde Slaughter and Sara Deane Buchanan Slaughter; his wife Anita Slaughter; his children, Jeffrey Scott King (Meagan), Lindsey Brooke Strickland and Amy Lee Bradley (Scott); his grandchildren, Emery Strickland and Celeste Croley (Lanny); and his great grandchildren, Bradleigh Kate Croley, Harlan Grace Croley and Willa Reece Croley.
In lieu of flowers the family encourages donations be made to the American Diabetes Association.
