He was loved and cherished by many people including: his parents, Elvener Hester Garrett and Frances Jewell Head Garrett; his wife Sara Nell Nicholson Garrett; his children, David Lane Garrett (Tori) and Dana Garrett Brooks (Shane); his grandchildren, Ayla Rose Garrett, Nicholas Warren Garrett and Brady Andrew Brooks; and his siblings, Lane Garrett and Kay Nell Duncan. He was also cherished by nieces and nephews.

In lieu of flowers the family welcomes and encourages donations be made to the Arab Church of Christ Mission Fund or to the American Diabetes Association.
