He is survived by: his wife Susan Scroggins Penton; his daughters, Kristen "Krissy" Gordon Hamby (Michael) and Angela Penton Pitts (Brad); his grandchildren, Braxton Pitts (Fiance' Elizabeth), Georganna Hamby, Brett Pitts and Mary Grantleigh Hamby; and his sisters, Betty Ann Estes and Joyce "Polly" Catrett (John).
