He was predeceased by: his parents, Clifton Joseph Gay Jr. and Annette Brown Gay. He is survived by: his spouse Gail Lee Flynn of Lexington, Kentucky.; his daughters, Rubannette Marquita (Vernard Jenkins II), Christal Gail (Christopher Smaw), Clarissa Javita (David Savage) and Rhiana Christine; his grandchildren, Josiah, Vernard, Elijah, Jeremiah, Gabriel, Amaria, Abigail, David and Joseph; his son Kevin Willis; and his grandson Nathaniel Ward. He is also survived by many cousins, nieces, nephews, and in-laws.
In lieu of flowers the family is requesting donations be made to "The Tassel is Worth the Hassle" Education Ministry.
