He was predeceased by his parents, Warden Johnston and Beulah Johnston and his sister Sharon Ness (Jim). He is survived by his wife Pat; his children Teri (Bruce), Michael (Maggie) and Lael; grandchildren Trevor, Cindy, Patrick, Ian, Adam, Simon, Hannah and Ruby; his siblings, Norma Mulder (Dave) and Murray Johnston (Joanne); and his many nieces and nephews.
