He was predeceased by: his parents, Thomas Gillespie and Isabelle Gillespie; his wife Norah Gillespie; his brother Neil Gillespie (Edna); his brother-in-law Jacob Woloshchuk; and his granddaughter Lacy Kay Gillespie.

He is survived by: his children, Doug, Lois (Bob Cameron), Don (Beverly) and Darwin (Chanti); his sister Margaret; and his son Douglas (Colleen). He is also survived by seven grandsons, one granddaughter and seven great-grandchildren.
