He was predeceased by: his siblings, Jack, Mendel (Shirley), Nanette Giller (Harold) and Joan; his nephew Allan; and his parents, Louis Burnstein and Rebecca.

He is survived by: his daughters, Drue Kendrick (Jason Morsink) and Robyn Burnstein; his granddaughters, Mara and Ryan Kendrick; his close friend Wendy Hallman of Waterloo; his nephews, Marcus (Ruth), Matthew (Marcia), Milo, Bob and Jonathan (Mary); his niece Paula (David); his sister Rhoda Nussdorf (New Orleans) of California; and his former wife Barbara Burnstein.
