He was predeceased by: his parents, Dell MacPhee and Ethel Hatton; his brother-in-law Henry; and his niece Karen. He is survived by: his spouse Jean; his children, Mathew (Mary Jane) and Judy MacDonald (James); his grandchildren, Evan, Brandon, Haley and Ethan; his siblings, Diane MacPhail (Gary) and Ron MacPhee (Judy); and his sisters-in-law, Marlene, Margaret and Lynn. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
