He was predeceased by: his parents, Colin MacKay and Mabel MacKay; and his siblings, Florence Oakes, Melvin MacKay, Millie Balcolm and Harvey MacKay.

He is survived by: his daughters, Colleen Akerley (Matthew Martin) and Lori Craig (Trevor); the mother of his children Elizabeth MacKay; his granddaughters, Nicole Akerley and Calleigh Craig; and his siblings, Gladys Betts and Jimmy MacKay (Ann Watts).
