He was predeceased by: his parent Fremlin E. Lynn; and his brothers, Fremlin Simpson Hollingsworth (late Mhora) and Edward Lynn Hollingsworth. He is survived by: his friends, Clint Husband and Barry Blanchard; his spouses, Helen Toivonen MacGillivray and Helen Hollingsworth; his children, Scott MacGillivray, Robert MacGillivray (Kelly), Bruce Hollingsworth and Sandra Hollingsworth; his grandchildren, Arianne MacGillivray and Conor MacGillivray; his sister Marie Frossard (late Al) of London; his sister-in-law Rita Mae Hollingsworth (late Edward Lynn); and his parent Agnes L. Hollingsworth. He is also survived by his nieces and nephews.

In 2006, he and his brothers received the Medal of Merit for their various works in the community, particularly their kind donation to Sault Area Hospital, which resulted in establishing the Hollingsworth Family Algoma District Cancer Centre, allowing families to receive cancer treatments within Sault Ste. Marie and Algoma.
