He was predeceased by: his wife Constance "Connie" Bernice Arbuthnot; his parents, Gordon Arbuthnot and Audrey Arbuthnot; and his brothers, Dwain Arbuthnot (Sharon) and Stuart Arbuthnot (late Lou).

He is survived by: his children, Stephen Arbuthnot (Susan) of Hurd's Lake and Lynn Arbuthnot (Jeremie Paulin) of Renfrew; his grandchildren, Ryan Arbuthnot (Krystyn), Kaitlyn Mulvihill (Kipp) and Zachary Paulin; his great grandchildren, Addison, Lukas, Taylor and Millie; his sister Darlene Langford (Steve) of Carp; and his stepmother Bernie Arbuthnot of Ottawa. He is also survived by his loving nieces and nephews.
