He was predeceased by: his wife Myrtle; his parents, Mabel Jonston and Thomas Petry; and his siblings, John (late Lucille), Douglas (late Edith), George, Victor (Griselda Nicholson) and Grace (late Robert Watt).

He is survived by: his sister Judith (Edward Glucky).
